Across the Mountains – Back to Our Loved Ones

Poster: the art exhibition and auction “Pāri kalniem – pie savējiem”, a charity campaign. Live auction on 1 November at 12:00 at the Spice shopping centre.

For the families of the Latvian citizens who have gone missing in Nepal, this is an unimaginably difficult time — filled with uncertainty, pain and waiting. While our loved ones are still being searched for far from home, here in Latvia we can stand beside those who wait, hope and continue with their everyday lives.

To provide practical and financial support to the families of the missing Latvian citizens, we have created a charitable art initiative and auction, “Across the Mountains – Back to Our Loved Ones.”

From 13 to 31 October, the artworks offered in the auction will be available to view in person at the Spice shopping centre. On this website, you can learn more about the participating artists and their works, as well as take part in the auction by placing your bid on the artwork of your choice.

On 1 November at 12:00 noon, the auction finale will take place at the Spice shopping centre, where you will have the opportunity to continue bidding and acquire your chosen artwork.

Nearly 40 artists from Latvia and England are taking part in the auction. They have responded to our call and donated their works, using their talent to help people who are in particular need of support at this difficult time.

100% of the proceeds from the sale of the artworks will be given to the families of the 15 missing people who have applied for assistance.

Every bid in this auction is more than a price placed on a work of art. It is a reminder that no one should be left alone in their pain. It is an opportunity to use art to build a bridge across distance, mountains and uncertainty — bringing us back to our loved ones.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank every artist who has donated their work, everyone who has helped make this auction possible, and everyone who will take part, place a bid, make a donation, share information or simply stand beside us.

Thank you for your humanity.Thank you for your support.Thank you for helping us stay together — even when thousands of kilometres and mountains stand between us.

Across the Mountains – Back to Our Loved Ones.
